deaerator: deaerators,as used in power generating central stations,are direct contact feedwater heaters.Here,the condensate is heated and the non condensable gases are removed from all incoming flows.Deaerators generally consist of two pressure vessels.In the first,the condensate or feedwater is heated to the saturation temperature that corresponds to the prevailing pressure.Deaeration also takes place in this vessel.The second vessel serves as a water storage tank and to absorb surges in flow due to variations in plant load.In case of an interruption in condensate flow,the water stored in the deaerator ensures a supply to the feed pumps while the plant operator considers and initiates remedial action
